Privacy Policy

In short: MeowTube has no ads, does not track you and never sells data. It sends anonymous usage statistics that are not linked to you. Your email address only leaves your device if you choose to send it: to get a reply to your feedback, or because you ticked “Get MeowTube news by email”.
Who is responsible
MeowTube is developed and published by Sharik Mohamed, an independent developer based in France, who is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: sharikmohamed8@gmail.com.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand how the app is used and improve it, MeowTube sends anonymous statistics to our own server. They contain:
- a random identifier created by the app at install (not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier; deleting the app erases it);
- the app version, system version, platform and language;
- usage events without content: sessions and their length, which kind of site is open (YouTube, YouTube Music or another site) and time spent, number of videos watched, onboarding screens, paywall displays and subscription purchases, sign-in and sign-out.
They never include a web address, a video title, a search, your account or your email address, and they are never linked to your identity. Your IP address is not recorded: it is only kept in memory for a few minutes to limit abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the app.
Feedback
When you use “Send feedback”, we receive your message, its type (bug, idea…), the app and system version, and your language. The email address field is optional: if you fill it in, we use it only to reply to you. These messages are not linked to your usage statistics. Email addresses left with feedback are deleted after 3 years at the latest.
News by email (optional)
If you tick “Get MeowTube news by email” (never ticked by default) when signing in or when sending feedback, we keep your email address, the name given by Apple or Google if any, your language and the date of your consent, to occasionally tell you about new features. Legal basis: your consent. Every email contains an unsubscribe link, and unticking the option, signing out or deleting your account in the app removes your address. Without new consent, it is deleted 3 years after you gave it.
Account (Sign in with Apple or Google)
Signing in is optional. The identifier, name and email address returned by Apple or Google are stored on your device only; they are sent to our server only through the news option above. Sign in with Google is handled by Google, whose privacy policy applies. You can sign out or delete your account in Settings › Account.
What stays on your device
Your favourite sites, browsing history, time limits, detailed time statistics and settings are stored only on your device. MeowTube is a web browser: the websites you visit (for example YouTube) receive what any browser sends them and apply their own privacy policies; their cookies stay on your device.
Purchases
MeowTube Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple (or Google Play on Android). We never see your payment details.
Where data is stored, and who sees it
Statistics, feedback and the news list are stored on our server hosted by OVH in France (European Union). Only the developer has access to them. We do not sell, rent or share them, and we use no advertising or third-party tracking tools.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to sharikmohamed8@gmail.com. Because statistics are anonymous, we cannot find them from your name or email. You can also file a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Children
MeowTube is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
